Hello Readers! ♥ Thank you for landing here, this week I ran into a case where the user needed to use the gallery and photo system apps on his Work Profile.

As may you know, when you enable the work profile you can install school or work apps if you go to the managed Google Play store, but what if you want to use the Gallery or Camera system apps that comes with your Samsung phone, for example? Please continue reading…

So, this scenario is useful when there are company policies that prevent you from sharing between Personal and Work Profile. On this example we will use a Galaxy Tab A7 and we will add Gallery and Photo apps to the Work Profile

1. Get the package Name of each platform. For Samsung Knox devices, info can be found here. We will use:

Camera Package Name: com.sec.android.app.camera

Gallery Package Name: com.sec.android.gallery3d

2. Add apps in Endpoint Manager

• Sign-in to Endpoint Manager
• Go to Apps > Android Apps and click Add
• Choose Android Enterprise system app and click Select

• 

• For Camera system app, add the following information and click Next:

• Add scope tags if needed and click Next.
• On Assignments select a device group as required and click Next.
• Review the configuration and click Create.

• For Gallery system app, add the following information and click Next:

• 

• Add scope tags if needed and click Next.
• On Assignments select a device group as required and click Next.
• Review the configuration and click Create.

3. Sync and check the results on the device:

Camera and Gallery apps are added to the Work Profile.

Tip

System apps cannot be assigned as available for users.
